The Best Private Pools to Check Out This Summer

Make a splash at these exclusive pools.

Private pools are all the rave this summer.

You've likely availed yourself of some of the city's public swimming spots for a summer in H-Town — neighborhood pools, waterparks or even the lakes and lagoons that live on the outskirts — to relieve yourself from the unbearable heat.

But an upscale pool experience is sometimes what a good group of friends or family experience is missing. If there was a bucket list to have a perfect Houston summer, relaxing in a private pool with a tube floatie is near the top. Fortunately, Houston offers nice digs with privacy that's unmatched and unique day passes so guests can enjoy an extravagant dive. We've cataloged some of the best private pools in the city for you to enjoy a private plunge.

Domain Heights

Nestled near the Heights Hike & Bike Trail is Domain Heights, the residential property with Houston's largest private pool. The property has a massive collection for swimming laps, plus three additional conversation pool pods for lounging. You'll feel like you're on vacation as Domain Heights affords you in-pool tanning along the tanning ledges. If you're not a resident, no worries — keep your eye out for ticketed events, such as the Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila Tasting on May 21. Bonus: Domain Heights exclusively told Houstonia that they have partnered with a local hospitality group for a soon-to-come fully operational bar, Bar Domain, this summer.

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa

The Houstonian puts all other pools to shame — you'll need a club membership or to reserve a stay at the Memorial property to take a dip, but it's worth it for what you'll get. The Houstonian has not one, not two, but three pools, open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., that guests and members can use,  a relaxing, warm-water garden pool to dip in after a massage; a 25-yard lap pool for those athletically inclined, and a resort pool with waterfalls, geysers, water sports and a 32-foot slide for the kiddos.

Domain Heights has a 9,000 square-foot pool with a 4-in-1 design.

Altitude Rooftop & Pool at the Marriott Marquis

A favorite destination for locals and out-of-towners alike is the Marriott Marquis. The hotel's Texas-shaped lazy river is the only one of its kind in the state; it's on the sixth floor of the property with rooftop views of Downtown. The hotel offers complimentary access to guests from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and non-guests can purchase $40 day passes via Resort Pass, which grants access to the lazy river, the infinity heated pool, towel service and food. Upgrade your package for a few hundred more and rent a daybed, cabana or pergola.

El Segundo Swim Club

EaDo's El Segundo Swim Club is the resort-style pool (without the resort price) that this metro city needs. The collection is a calm water oasis off the beaten path — sprawled across 1,350 square feet. Palm trees shade the adults-only pool, and the drinks are everflowing. The unique experience includes cabanas made from shipping containers, murals adorning the property and tropical cocktails. Enjoy the lush vibes at the Downtown swim club with a day pass.

Family-Friendly Oasis in the Heights

If you want an even more secluded pool day for your family, the pool renting app Swimply has luxe properties throughout the city that provide the privacy you want. This watering hole in the Heights is children and infant friendly and starts at $37.60 per hour. With up to eight guests allowed, the backyard pool feels like an intimate boutique resort — the two umbrellas provide added shade on those sweltering summer days, and the space under the pergola comes with a fan. If you'd prefer an evening swim, the table can convert into a fire pit, and the deck is concealed with shrubbery covering the backyard, adding extra privacy if you need it.
