Last Saturday night felt something like a milestone as Houston's highly anticipated White Oak Music Hall presented its first live show with YACHT and M83. As the sold out crowd perched on a hill overlooking the stage, the Bayou City skyline flickered in the background and everyone wondered if this could be reality, does Houston finally have a proper music venue?
More than 3,000 people bought tickets to the event that captured a Free Press Summer Fest type of ambience. Attendees could lounge on the hill near the stage or help themselves to a number of food trucks positioned around the grounds.
The White Oak Music Hall shares a parking lot with the newly opened Raven Tower, one of Houston's newest and most anticipated bars. Some concert goers skipped out on the last two songs to enjoy a birds-eye view of the stage from the nearby lounge.
