Hunky Dory and Bernadine’s Will Close Next Week

Hunky Dory’s Silver Salver will cease to be on May 24.

An hour ago, the Facebook pages for Bernadine’s and Hunky Dory, both members of the Treadsack restaurant group, posted the same message:

“It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of Bernadine’s and Hunky Dory. Our last service will be Wednesday, May 24th. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our amazing and hardworking staff and to you, our guests. We are grateful for your patronage over the last year. It has been a pleasure to serve you.”

This dual closure of the two restaurants that opened within months of each other in 2015 comes five months after that of Treadsack sibling Foreign Correspondents and its neighboring bar, Canard.

Hunky Dory opening chef Richard Knight departed in January. Graham Laborde, who has been helming Bernadine’s form the beginning, took over both restaurants at that time. Laborde, whose father pumped money into Treadsack to keep the business afloat, according to the Houston Press, announced last week that he was jumping ship to step in as operations chef for the Killen’s restaurant group.

Treadsack businesses Down House, D&T Drive-In and Johnny’s Gold Brick remain open.
