It’s the holiday season, which also means it is now holiday party season. If you don’t have the space to host private get-togethers at home—or are the type of person who prefers to not have lots of people invade your private sanctuary—booking a private room at a Houston restaurant is a great option that removes a bit of the headache that comes along with planning a party.

This year, book a private room from one of the restaurants on this list and let the staff do all the work. From beautiful Asian-inspired spaces like the private dining room at Le Colonial to coastal Greece-inspired rooms at Ouzo Bay and a swanky, Jazz Age-recalling private dining room at Gatsby’s Prime Steakhouse, this list has rooms perfect for every flavor of party.

River Oaks

River Oaks Mexican eatery ARMANDOS is a stunner in the area of interior design. The restaurant’s private room, which seats 40 and has room for 55 guest cocktail-style, features beautiful antique mirrors, intricate sunburst latticework, and rich red draperies that add an extra dose of drama—an ideal spot for those who like their get-togethers to be a bit dramatic.

The room, located on the building’s second floor, includes luxe design touches like Texas mesquite wood flooring, a large format magnolia on the wall painted by Houston artist Jonathan Paul Jackson, and a chic high-ceiling chandelier.

Brennan’s of Houston

Is there a restaurant more iconic in Houston than Brennan’s? The storied, Cajun-Creole restaurant, which has served as the training ground for several of Houston’s finest chefs, has nine separate areas available for private events, including a grand ballroom, a wine room, a solarium, and an Old World-recalling courtyard.

Brenner’s on the Bayou

River Oaks

Showstopping steakhouse Brenner’s on the Bayou, situated in a wooded area on Buffalo Bayou, contains three cozy private rooms as well as a spacious patio that is home to lush foliage as well as a waterfall. Of particular note is The Garden Room, an elegant space that provides up to 25 guests with a panoramic view of the nearby bayou.

New downtown dining destination Bungalow may have just recently opened, but its two stunning private dining spaces are already generating a healthy amount of buzz. The restaurant’s uber-chic Prive’ Room, decked out in elegant shades of black and gray, has a dedicated private guest entrance, high ceilings, its own bar, and enough room for 30 seated guests. Meanwhile, its red-hued Low Lounge, which is opulent from floor to ceiling,  is hidden behind a bookshelf and sports seductive low lighting and room for 20 seated guests.

Modern Cajun-Creole restaurant Eunice contains an intimate private dining room that accommodates up to 24 that showcases specialty wall treatments like textured paper in a wildflower pattern. It’s a perfectly secluded and sophisticated backdrop to any private event, which will be enhanced, of course, by chef Drake Leonards’s upscale Cajun-Creole fare.

Gatsby's Prime Steakhouse's private dining room is as opulent as they come.

Gatsby’s Prime Steakhouse

Museum District

It goes without saying that the private dining room at Gatsby’s Prime Steakhouse, named after one of literature’s flashiest characters, knows how to put on a show. The room, which features seating for 35 and space for 50 cocktail-style, is a chic throwback to 1920s Jazz Age opulence. Adding to the effect is the restaurant’s music, which often includes a lot of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

The rooftop lounge at Georgia James features a lot of natural lighting.

Georgia James

Georgia James, Underbelly Hospitality’s iconic steakhouse concept, recently moved into a chic and expansive new home that offers plenty in the way of private spaces. The far eastern end of the restaurant contains a light-filled private dining room (with its own private bathroom) that has a capacity of 24 guests. The most stunning spot in the restaurant, however, is its rooftop lounge, which is also available for booking. The lounge, which overlooks downtown Houston’s skyline, includes 4,000 square feet dedicated to indoor dining as well as a 7,000 square foot patio that includes barrio lighting, fire pits, and soft seating. The entire rooftop lounge can accommodate 150 guests (seated) to 200 guests (standing).

The room, which accommodates up to 12 guests, is home to a beautiful custom piece by Argentinian artist Alexandra Kehayoglu that resembles a mossy carpet.
