Those wondering how the former El Cantina Superior space at White Oak and Studewood could possibly house a full-scale brewpub, wonder no more. The answer is that it can't, and the planned brewpub from former Real Ale head brewer Erik Ogershok won't be moving into the former Tex-Mex restaurant after all. But there's good news, too—namely, that Ogershok is still on board with Ken Bridge, the owner of the property, and will be overseeing the craft beer line-up that's coming soon to the new concept for the space: Ritual.
Ritual, says Bridge, will be a restaurant and tap room along the same lines as another of his more successful ventures, Shepherd Park Draught House. "I wanted to rebuild a space that would represent and inspire not just what we do and who we are in the industry, but also a space that everyone could identify with and really feel at home," Bridge said in a press release. In addition to Ogershok, Bridge has tapped Felix Florez of Black Hill Meats in Katy, Tex. to bring in an assortment of fresh, local meats to be used for everything from comfort food dishes to charcuterie.
Florez's meats will be prepared by Jordan Asher, most recently the chef at another one of Bridge's recently redesigned restaurants: Witchcraft Tavern & Provision, which is now Korean-themed Republic Diner and Sojubang. Expect food more in line with the former, as opposed to the latter, says Asher, who describes the food at Ritual as a "super hearty, rustic menu that will hit on comfortable and familiar notes."
Ritual plans to open its doors this March.
