The big sister restaurant to Guru Burgers & Crepes (and Jupiter Pizza & Waffle, also located in Sugar Land’s Town Square), Japaneiro’s expands upon the Japanese culinary tradition in Brazil, where nearly 1.5 million of the country’s residents claim Japanese descent. This means the 10-year-old restaurant serves edamame next to tajadas (fried plantains), ceviche next to sushi, and churrasco steak marinated in chimichurri next to sashimi plates. Everything comes together in wildly creative rolls, like the Tropic Thunder with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, plantains, nata cream and Sriracha sauce.
