Katsuya by Starck Closed
You’ve probably heard this place is trendier than thou, and that’s correct, but don’t let that stop you from going in. You’ll feel sexier when you leave. Does Katsuya by Starck have the best sushi and hot dishes ever? No. Notable wine and cocktail list? Not at all. However, the food is very good, you’ll find a satisfying wine (we went with a Spanish white), and the glossy atmosphere makes the whole package an enjoyable experience. Suggestive (but tasteful) images of the lips and eyes of a geisha adorn the wall. The lighting along the wall is decently bright, but the center of the dining room is very dim, so let them know in advance if you enjoy being able to see your food. Sashimi plates are artful, and we genuinely enjoyed the signature spicy tuna on small rectangles of crispy rice. Watch out for upselling.
