Zelko Bistro Closed
Located in a converted 1920s bungalow, this locally focused spot offers an updated take on comfort food. Jamie Zelko is an experienced chef with a sense of purpose, and a lot of wit transforms excellent ingredients into a menu that playfully reflects our multicultural food scene. There’s lox, samosas, shrimp and grits, and tres leches on the table, and they all seem to go together perfectly. Though “natural,” “organic,” and “sustainable” are part of the sensibility here, there are hefty burgers, steaks, and banana splits, too.
Chef Jamie Zelko’s eponymous restaurant features a locally driven, sustainable menu that reads like a world tour and changes regularly. Favorites include spaghetti Bolognese, corned beef and cabbage, and ribs marinated in Saint Arnold’s root beer. Make sure to pick up a jar of honey if it’s available. The resident bees feast on Heights flowers—food doesn’t get much more local than that.
