Back for its 5th year, our annual Gumbo Smackdown presented by Sugar Land Town Square was the ideal way for 500 gumbo lovers to spend a Saturday outdoors. Before voting for their favorite, ticket holders devoured endless amounts of gumbo from 12 of the Houston area's best restaurants, ultimately naming The Rouxpour as People’s Choice. Karbach Brewing Co. helped guests wash down all that comfort food goodness, while lively entertainment kept their feet tapping. Fish City Grill was named as Judges’ Choice for best gumbo, and the panel included Michael Nix (Pitcher, Sugarland Skeeters), Corie Mott (Sugar Land Town Square), Andrea Thompson (Fort Bend Rainbow Room) and Gwendolyn Knapp (Associate Editor, Houstonia) sitting on the Judges’ panel.
