Although there’s plenty of Southern Indian food in Houston, it’s unusual to find authentic Hyderabadi cuisine, which is influenced by Chinese, Turkish, Middle Eastern, and even French flavors. That’s one reason Biryani Pot is always packed; the other is that the made-from-scratch curries and fresh-baked naan are drop-dead delicious. As the name would imply, biryanis are also a house specialty. When the line gets too long, prepare to place your order in advance of getting seated—which actually works out perfectly, as the food will arrive at the table when you do. Parking is in an odd lot behind the building, but Biryani Pot’s friendly attendants will help you find a space.
