Café TH Editor’s Pick

The former location of Thiem Hung Bakery is now the home of Café TH, a reinvention of a traditional Vietnamese sandwich shop by a former customer who bought the business and updated the place. The colorful décor still includes the original photographs of Vietnam that once hung at Thiem Hung Bakery. A modern banh mi menu includes many new takes on the common Vietnamese sandwich: there’s sardine sandwiches; quadruple meatball sandwiches; the “heartthrob,” with double meat, two eggs, and two slices of bacon; and the “zombie challenge,” which comes with a little bit of everything plus plenty of Zombie hot sauce. Don’t forget the “add an egg to anything” option. Café TH also offers meatier noodle and rice dishes, plus several vegan options.
It’s rare to find vegetarian, let alone vegan, Vietnamese food, yet owner Minh Nguyen has created vegan curry, pho, bun, and com dishes, all packed with both veggies and flavor. We like the Trifecta Sanjay combo, which features a tofu banh mi with stir-fried “tofu delight” and a small bowl of rich, thick vegan curry for under $13.
