Copacabana Pizzeria specializes in Brazilian pizzas—there are 15 on the menu, including a shrimp version and a “gaucha pizza” with steak. The restaurant is owned by the same folks who used to run the legendary Brazilian pizzeria Friends, on Westheimer near Gessner. Try the sensational “pizza moda da casa” (Portuguese for house-style pizza) topped with hard-boiled eggs, bacon, chicken, and green olives. “Would you like ketchup or mayonnaise with that?” the waiter asked us when he brought it to the table. We were bewildered. “That’s the way the Brazilians eat it,” he explained, “and there are more pizzerias in Brazil than the United States.”
