Description

Beginning with its original location off Shepherd, Hobbit Café has been making vegetarian food fun and accessible to Houstonians since 1972. These days, the Tolkien-themed café is tucked into a rambling house and oak-canopied patio on Richmond that only adds to the hippie charm of the place. The signature vegetable-filled sandwiches remain unchanged since the café’s early days, like our favorite: the Thorin Oakenshield stuffed with tangy, homemade tabouleh, mushrooms, and cheese. For dinner, we enjoy diving into the Valinor, a satisfying plate of steamed vegetables, brown rice, and black beans—preferably washed down with one of the craft beers from Hobbit Cafe’s excellent beer list.
