The legendary Café Annie is back as The Annie Café & Bar, reimagined and renovated by Benjamin Berg of Berg Hospitality Group, in partnership with revered executive chef Robert Del Grande, who’s back in the kitchen making “Texas-influenced American cuisine.” Full of ferns and palm trees, with a commanding bar, the restaurant’s Post Oak Blvd. space feels timeless yet also fresh. That energy flows through the cuisine, too, as evidenced by the chef’s gargantuan long-bone ribeye, which serves at least two. Tender slices of dry-aged medium-rare steak fall off this Flintstonian centerpiece, which gets a modern twist from pickled red onions, sliced avocado, cilantro, a generous dusting of cotija, and—what the heck—smoky morsels of beef rib. The result? An instant classic.
