Normally, we cringe at the word "disruptor," which is right up there alongside "made-up job titles like Chief Dream Officer" in the pantheon of modern language afflictions that are slowly killing our souls. That said, mattress company Casper is one market disruptor we don't mind—because mattress sales is definitely a market that needed changing from within.
The New York-based mattress firm became a $100 million company in two years—doing over $1 million in its first month alone—by streamlining the entire, anguishing bed-purchasing process when it was founded in 2014. Originally, it made only one style of mattress, at once accessible price point, and delivered it for free along with the promise of a 100-day trial period. Today, Casper makes three mattresses, priced between $600 and $1,850, and they're delivered within a matter of days.
But if you're the type who likes to try before you buy, good news: Casper has just opened its first location in Houston. Located in the Nordstrom wing of the Galleria outside H&M, the kiosk offers the chance to test-drive the mattresses in person. Even better? Tired holiday shoppers can book an appointment in one of the Casper nap pods (equipped with Casper mattresses, of course). The Casper kiosk is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
