Thru Sept. 15 | Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Each summer, the MFAH transforms its Upper Brown Pavilion into a massive, interactive, Instagrammable art installation (you might remember last year's monumental Big Bambú). Summer 2019 brings a trifecta of works from choreographer William Forsythe, most notably Nowhere and Everywhere at the Same Time, No. 2—a dangling array of pendulums that invites visitors to weave among its organized chaos.
Tickets from $10. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet St. 713-639-7300. More info and tickets at mfah.org.
Celebrating Pauline Oliveros
May 25–27 | Multiple Locations
An influential artist and composer who collaborated with figures including Phillip Glass and John Cage, Pauline Oliveros is finally getting recognition in her hometown. This weekend features three events: an interactive evening of performances at Discovery Green introducing the concept of deep listening; yet another performance from four of her close collaborators in Buffalo Bayou's subterranean cistern; and a gallery-spanning performance of Oliveros' 1988 "Sound Piece" at Lawndale Art Center.
