The Museum Experience

To help expose people to the 19 institutions that comprise Houston's Museum District, the Houston Museum District Association has devised what they're calling the Museum Experience. On the last Saturday of January, April, July and September, the Museum Experience focuses on a different walkable zone within the district.

Zone 2 will be the focus of the Museum Experience tomorrow. Starting at 10 a.m., museums within the zone will feature special programming and there will be pedicabs and food trucks to complete the experience.
Museums within Zone 2 include Holocaust Museum Houston, Asia Society Texas Center, Weather Museum, Czech Center Museum Houston, Lawndale Art Center, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Houston Museum of African American Culture and the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum.
Several museums will offer free demonstrations, music and renactments. At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Houston-area Holocaust survivors will discuss their experiences during the Nazi era at the Holocaust Museum. Members of the Darfurian community will discuss genocide in Sudan at the museum at noon and 2 p.m.
The event is free but some of the museums may charge regular admission charges.
