The 10 Best Student Discounts in Houston

Oh, to be a student. The intellectual freedom. The summers off. The parties. And, oh yeah, the discounts. There's a reason I held onto my graduate school ID even after dropping out two years ago. (Lamentably, it expired at the end of September.) That magic card is a passport to arts deals otherwise unavailable until you hit old age and begin to qualify for senior citizen discounts. So as a service to Houston students of all ages and types, we've compiled a list of the best student discounts in town, many of them at locations accessible by MetroRail—which you can ride at a discount rate with your student Q Card.

1. Houston Symphony

$15 tickets for any Classical or Pops concert; $50 for a season ticket (6 Pops & 18 Classical concerts)

2. Houston Grand Opera

$15 students tickets through the Nexus program (limited number of tickets—call ahead to reserve)

3. Houston Ballet

$10 rush tickets available 90 minutes prior to selected performances, depending on availability

Half-price tickets by phone or in person only
