Houston's own comic book and gaming fest continues to help bring nerd culture to the forefront. Cult icons like William Shatner, Lori Petty (Tank Girl) and cast members of Star Trek: Voyager are scheduled to make appearances.

The Saturday Night Live! standout stops in Houston for a three-day showcase at the Improv. Pharoah has become a fan favorite on SNL for his spot-on impressions of President Obama, Will Smith, Jay Z and Denzel Washington.

Art fans can take a free walking tour of some of the city's best art museums and galleries with stops at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Jung Center and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Families can partake in free art-making with silkscreen stations at CAMH, explore abstract art and create picture collages at Jung and make shadow monsters at the eponymous and interactive art installation at MFAH.
