Fridays–Sundays (Open Labor Day) | Second Ward
Last summer, we trumpeted the arrival of Houston's new swim bar; it shuttered days later. “Reopening El Segundo Swim Club this summer definitely took longer than expected due to a few construction and permitting challenges,” owner Matthew Healey said this week in a release. As a promotion, the joint will offer both special Labor Day hours and a shockingly well-priced beverage menu (White Claw included, naturally). Based on the press photos, the Instagram-friendly playground is beautiful and enclosed enough that you just might forget that you're lounging next to an asphalt plant.
Passes from $20 (Friday, August 30 free). El Segundo Swim Club, 5180 Avenue L. More info and passes at elsegundoswimclub.com.
Aug 30–Sept 1 | Improv Houston
The 38-year-old product of Alief follows his 2018 Netflix special, The Vagabond, with a solo show back in Houston. Expect plenty of commentary on the quirks and realities of Muslim-American life in Texas.

August 31 | Allen's Landing
The popular boat tour is back as Buffalo Bayou Partnership's resident Bat Girl leads a sunset cruise down the bayou just in time to watch the colony of Mexican Free-tail bats alight on their evening hunt.
