A By-the-Numbers Look at Last Year's Comicpalooza

Timed with the release of The Dark Knight, Houston held first Comicpalooza in 2008 at an Alamo Drafthouse Theater in Katy. Two years later, the Con moved to downtown’s George R. Brown Convention Center. There were only about 500 attendees at the inaugural Con, but by 2019, that number had swelled to 45,923 people, representing 46 states and 16 countries.
