Artists that live in and represent Houston are starting off 2022 strong. While rap and hip-hop genres are continuously placed at the forefront of the city's sound, there are many performers with unique approaches to pop, funk, and R&B. This week in new music, singer/songwriter  John Allen Stephens and producer Promenade prepare for their forthcoming pop album, plus Bun B returns with an all-new project entitled Mo Trill.

"Amour," Promenade and John Allen Stephens 


Singer and songwriter John Allen Stephens joined forces with Promenade on "Amour," a soulful pop track with a breezy, lighthearted feel. The single is the first off a full-length album, Devotion, Affection, and Other Synonyms for Love set to release later this year. Listen here

"Hesitate," Bun B featuring David Banner, Tobe Nwigwe, and Talib Kweli


Famed UGK producer Cory Mo enlisted lyrical rap powerhouses Bun B, Tobe Nwigwe, David Banner, and Talib Kweli for "Hesitate," a single from the Mo Trill album. In the song, each of the rappers acknowledges their past and positively looks towards the future. Listen here

"Celebration of You," Keith Jacobs



R&B singer Keith Jacobs is back with a sensual serenade with his new single, "Celebration Of You." Like a true Texas love story, Jacobs harmonizes through the song, with lyrics like "My heart is big like Texas, it only beats for you cause you're my Lone Star." Listen here. 

 "Flex Mode," Lil Flip featuring DJ XO


Houston OG Lil Flip reminds us that he's still the same rapper that "can do that," on his latest anthem, "Flex Mode." Utilizing the award-winning DJ XO, the two rap back and forth about their achievements within the music industry. In the music video, you'll also find a cameo from former Houston Rockets star Steve Francis. Listen here

 LE$ featuring Freddie Gibbs, "Chrome Lips"


Originally released on his E30 album, rapper LE$ released the music video for his single "Chrome Lips," with Indiana emcee Freddie Gibbs. The track has a laid-back approach, where LE$ simply talks about the luxuries of life.  Listen here.
