Benefitting West

Kolache Sale at Revival

Do a good deed--eat a kolache!

By Robb Walsh April 24, 2013

Stopping for kolaches at the Czech Stop on I-35 in West, Texas is a road trip tradition for generations of Texans. During the horrific explosion and fire in West, the Czech Stop stayed open, baking kolaches to feed first responders and homeless victims. So it's only fitting that a benefit for victims of the West disaster should take the form of a kolache sale.

This Saturday, April 27, Revival Market at 550 Heights Boulevard will hold a benefit kolache sale and donate 50 percent of the proceeds to victims of the West disaster. Sweet flavors will include strawberry cream or caramel apple. A miso butterscotch filling will be donated by Rebecca Mason of Fluff Bake Bar. Savory kolaches will feature spicy Revival boudin or smoked sausage and cheddar.

Doors open at 8 a.m., and Chef Ryan Pera will be doubling his usual batch.

Additional donations for the victims can be made at Revival Market or through Point West Bank, PO Box 279, West, TX 77691.
