Houston's own handsome Hawaiian, Brian Ching, will be mixing drinks behind the bar at Dogwood this Wednesday—a skill set fairly far removed from his days as a forward for the Houston Dynamo.

Though Ching retired from professional soccer earlier this year, playing his last game with the team on September 8, he isn't leaving any time soon. Not only did Ching accept a coaching position with Houston, it's been his home since he—along with much of the San Jose Earthquakes club—was relocated here in 2006. In Houston, Ching went on to help bring home two MLS cups, was named the league MVP in 2006, and began working in earnest with Houston Habitat for Humanity.

In 2012, Ching's foundation—The House That Ching Built—raised $75,000 to help Habitat for Humanity build a home for Teresa Urbano, a single mother raising two kids and living at her parents' home to save money. Ching is at it again, working once more to raise funds to construct another home for a Houston family. You can help on Wednesday, when Ching slings drinks from 4 to 9 p.m. and Dogwood hosts a silent auction—the proceeds from which go to The House That Ching Built.

Happy hour specials will also be available, which we hope doesn't overwhelm the soccer player too much. After all, we know he's good with his feet—but how will he do with his hands full of drinks?
