…will keep certain things away. And luckily for us, in Houston this form of alternative medicine is ubiquitous, delicious, and affordable. Here is your insiders’ guide to drinking a margarita a day, without breaking the budget.

The Margarita Monday special at Pistolero's (1517 Westheimer Rd., 281-974-3860) features eye-catchingly cheap $1.50 house margaritas, on the rocks or frozen. Take advantage of this all-day deal, or if you drop by during happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. consider the $5 appetizer options, notably the nachos.

El Real Tex-Mex Café’s (1201 Westheimer Rd., 713-524-1201) "Two Dollar Tuesday" means house margaritas—frozen and on the rocks—for $2, also all day. Need we say more?

Happy hour at El Pueblito Patio (1423 Richmond Ave., 713-520-6635) happens Monday through Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. Get your $3.95 house margarita frozen or on the rocks, and try to pick a day with nice weather to enjoy the famously charming and cozy cabanas on the patio.

For a slight splurge, check out weekday happy hour at The Pastry War (310 Main St., 713-225-3310) downtown from 4 to 6:30 p.m. If $5 margaritas sound expensive, this mezcalería makes them worth it with high-quality house margaritas (frozen or on the rocks). Plus, happy hour also includes free games of pool.

Taqueria Tepatitlan's (5545 Southwest Fwy., 713-349-9681) Thursday and Friday happy hour special from 3 to 7 p.m. has $1.99 margaritas, mojitos, and piña coladas at all locations. And considering their strength, you are definitely getting the bang for your two bucks whether you go with frozen or rocks.

Berryhill Baja Grill's (2639 Revere St., 713-526-8080) frozen margaritas are $3 all day on Saturdays at all corporate locations (West University, Galleria, Revere at Westheimer, and The Woodlands). Can’t let happy hour's traditional weekday limits hold you back.

Take your day of rest. Or, if you feel like coming full circle and being in prime spot to start again Monday morning, head back to Pistolero’s for their 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. reverse happy hour: ’ritas at $3.
