Do you remember the last time the Astros were in town?

Welcome back, baseball. Opening Day 2018 is tomorrow, and the best team in baseball, the defending World Series champions the Houston Astros, start the year on the road up in Arlington. They’re up there through the weekend, after which they return home on Monday to start a series with the Orioles. People, as you might expect, are just a little bit excited to see the Astros in person over at Minute Maid Park.
Local eateries are also pretty excited about the Astros home opening, and we’ve got a look at some that are running deals on Monday to celebrate. Heading to the game? We’ll talk your dining options early next week, but for everyone else, here’s what’s going on April 2.
FM Kitchen and Bar
Happy hour starts at 2 p.m. at FM, and they'll be serving up their $5 hot dog & Dome Faux'm beer combo, which will be available during all Astros games. In addition to that, artist Alex Roman—you might know him as Donkeeboy—will be painting an Astros mural. Inspired by "The Little Engine That Could," the mural brings together the train iconography of Minute Maid Park with Jose Altuve. It should be a stunner.
King's BierHaus
If $5 Astro Dogs—featuring Polish sausage, house bun, sauerkraut, King’s mustard, and sports peppers—and $6 signature drafts aren’t enough to get you in the door, maybe the chance to win a signed Jose Altuve jersey will. They’ll be giving one away to a lucky fan at the end of the night. Best of luck to you.
Raven Tower
While supplies last, your order of a $3 Buffalo Bayou Crush City IPA comes with a pint glass. They’re also doing an all-day happy hour featuring $2 off draft beer, wine and cocktails. They also want you to know their patio is dog-friendly, in case your best friend is an Astros fan as well.
Treebeards
Looking for an Opening Day lunch deal? At Treebeards Market Square, you can get a large gumbo—choose from duck or chicken/sausage—and a bottle of beer for $9.90; you can swap the beer for a Saint Arnold’s root beer if you’d like. The beer is for dine-in only, so plan accordingly. The root beer version of the deal is available at other their other locations, and they’ll have special Astros cookies as well.
