West University has plans to spice things up in 2022 as it welcomes two new eateries into the upscale neighborhood. According to recent news, locally-owned restaurants Los Tios Mexican Restaurant and Adair Kitchen are stated to be the newest additions to Plaza in the Park, the shopping center at the corner of Buffalo Speedway and Westpark Drive.

A new Los Tios location will find a home in West University.

Home to Houston’s first frozen margarita in 1975, Los Tios Mexican Restaurant is well-known for all of the right reasons, namely its mouth-watering Tex-Mex plates, fajitas, and puffy quesos. There is no doubt its arrival will garner an ecstatic response from locals. Additionally, the new 7,573-square-foot spot will include the work of creative interior designer Aaron Rambo, encapsulating the heritage of the Los Tios brand. The newest outpost marks the sixth location in Houston.

Joining Los Tios will be Adair Kitchen, serving from-scratch dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you decide to grab a bite to eat, you will get a taste of recipes that have run in the Adair family for generations. This will be the second location in Houston, boasting a 5,640-square-foot space, and a full bar menu including signature cocktails, tap beers, and a distinguished wine list.

National retail real estate developer, EDENS, made the announcement last week, as well as the news of its partnership with Nick Adair, West University resident and president of Adair Concepts, to complete the project. Adair believes the new restaurant additions will provide more neighborhood gathering places for families and those who love to eat. "The neighborhood means so much to us and we're thrilled to have partnered with EDENS to expand two of our concepts to Plaza in the Park,” Adair said in a statement.

Plaza in the Park has seen significant development in recent years, namely refreshing current architecture and an outdoor seating area. For EDENS managing director, Tom Kiler, expanding the shopping center is less about money and more about developing the community through business. “Modernizing Plaza in the Park has given our team the opportunity to attract exciting new restaurants and retail partners to the local community,” said Kiler.

Plaza in the Park is located at 5110 Buffalo Speedway. For more information, visit the website.
