This Year, Cinco de Mayo happens to fall on a Friday. All the more reason to make it a long weekend, we say.

Armandos

May 4–5, 11pm–1am

Every Thursday night is a dance party at Armandos, but this week the restaurant becomes a Cinco de Mayo celebration for two evenings straight. Expect a DJ to get things hype and all manner of tequila-fueled drinks.

Social Beer Garden

May 5, 5pm–2am

Mexican street food, the Los Jefes Market with over 60 artisans and makers, a tequila tasting, and a Latinx burlesque show. Sounds like a Cinco de Mayo party if we knew one.

The parking lot of Social Beer Garden becomes a massive Latin market.

Los Tios

May 5, 2pm

An all-day happy hour at Los Tios's five locations have house margaritas going for $5, but the party really kicks off at the flagship on San Felipe Street. Starting at 2pm, a party in the parking lot turns up with mariachi, tacos, and a margarita bar serving frozen and on-the-rocks varieties.

Home Run Dugout

May 5, 7pm

Los Cool Arrows plays a set at 7pm, but make sure you belly up at this sports bar well before that for specials on Mexican candy shots and Mexican beers, as well as a margarita flight.

It's baseball and beer at Home Run Dugout.

Warehouse 72

May 5

Why not trade the cheap margs for something a little more elevated? Warehouse 72 features a four-course Cinco de Mayo menu of aguachile de atun, sopes de pollo ahumado, wagyu carne asada, and tres leches. As an added bonus, this menu has three tequila drink pairing options, from a Mexican old fashioned to a blood orange tequila mule.

Eight Row Flint

May 5, Heights location

Come for the mariachi band, photo booth, and $10 Hornitos margaritas. Stay for the tacos, fajitas, and queso.

Candente

May 5

It's happy hour from 3–6pm for $6 margaritas, palomas, and other drinks, but the Cinco de Mayo event is a family affair at Candente. Expect mariachi music, a photo booth, and an atmosphere that's more festive and less hardcore party.

Kirby Ice House

May 5, 2–7pm

Three locations, Mexican beer by the bucket, and oh, did we mention margaritas? Kirby Ice House keeps things celebratory with happy hour pricing from 2–7pm and mariachi bands at its Memorial and Eastside locations.

EZ's Liquor Lounge

May 5

It's pretty obvious what you can expect at a liquor lounge on Cinqo de Mayo: margaritas, polomas, tequila shots, Tecate, Modelo. The food from JQ's Tex Mex BBQ and the mariachi band are just a sweet bonus.

La Grange

May 5, noon–2am

Doors open earlier than usual for Cinco de Mayo festivities, starring DJ Blue Heron Yacht Club spinning at 7pm and a drink called the Millionaire Margarita that (blessedly) only goes for $25.

Axelrad

May 5

Chamoy stars in two special drinks for the occasion: the Spicy Pickle (tequila, pickle chamoy, and lime juice) and Mexican Candy (watermelon chamoy and tequila). Music from Mariachi Imperial de America and Andrea Mariachi, though, plays from 7pm and on.
