Highly Anticipated Restaurants Coming To Houston in 2022

Foodies from all over come to Houston to get a taste of everything we have to offer. From award-winning Indian restaurant Musaafers to Cali-based concept Dave's Hot Chicken, H-Town has something for everyone, with new concepts popping up all throughout the city.
This year, gourmands can expect a lot of good things from the Houston food scene, with brand new fusion cuisines and authentic coastal eats popping up in the city in 2022.
Here's all-new restaurants opening in Houston in 2022.
Little Pappas Seafood House Oyster Bar

Little Pappas Seafood is reopening on Shepherd, and will expand with an Oyster bar.

Pappas Restaurants is re-opening Little Pappas Seafood House, with a brand new addition of an oyster bar. The restaurant, which closed in 2020 due to COVID-19, is making a small-but-mighty return to South Shepherd Drive next year. The small-scale menu will place an emphasis of fresh over fried fish, with snapper caught on Pappas Restaurants’ boats, and redfish from Palacios. The bill of fare will also feature fan-favorites like seafood gumbo, baked jumbo lump crab cake, and crispy calamari & asparagus.

Hildee's Texas Dine Inn

With plans to open in the first quarter of 2022, Hildee's Texas Dine Inn is Houston's newest hill country kitchen. Helmed by Chef Ryan Hildebrand, the down-home concept will feature soulful, feel-good meals with a hint of smoke, according to a release. Some of the unique dishes you'll find at the forthcoming eatery include Brisket Burnt End Rangoons with Molasses Sweet and Sour, Confit Tomato Pie with Farmer's Cheese, and House Hot Smoked Salmon with Black Pepper Biscuits and Scallion Cream.

Loro

The Asian fusion food truck serving one-of-a-kind brisket sandwiches is finally getting their Heights outpost. The impending restaurant will take the place of the former West 11th Church of God in The Heights. The smokehouse plans to open at the top of 2022. The brand-new build will have a dining room and bar, an epic smokehouse, and a kitchen that fares much bigger than its Austin and Dallas locations.

Money Cat
Money Cat is a product of chef and restaurant owner Sherman Yeung, who also owns popular sushi bar, Tobiuo in Katy. Yeung shared on his personal Instagram in October that he had a new restaurant under construction. While there hasn't been much information disclosed on the new concept, the restaurant will feature "Japanese modern eats and sushi," according to its Instagram. Currently, no opening date has been set.

AB Sushi

With a focus on high-end sushi, AB Sushi is the state-of-the-art sushi restaurant headed to Blossom Hotel in 2022. Not exclusive to sushi, the restaurant will provide an elevated experience, curated by chef Akira Back, both Michelin-star culinary artists. Along with sushi offerings, the restaurant will also serve premium sashimi and other Japanese dishes.

Hawaiian Bros
Tropical flavors will make their way to Houston next year by way of Hawaiian Bros, a fast-casual concept that prides itself on not using "freezers, fryers, or microwaves," according to the website. The Houston location makes one of the 11 locations in the Lone Star state, with franchises spread across Dallas and Austin. Standout menu items include the Huli Huli Chicken, Luau Pig, and the Macaroni Salad. The outpost will be housed in place of the former Taco Cabana on Westheimer Road.

Wild Oats

The Shrimp Diablo will soon be available at Wild Oats, a Texas concept located at the Houston Farmer's Market.

A development from Underbelly Hospitality, Wild Oats is the newest concept coming in 2022. The unique restaurant will open in January at the Houston Farmer's Market, alongside Underbelly Burger, which opened in December. The restaurant will be run by Underbelly's culinary director, Nick Fine, and the menu will simultaneously weave in the history and traditions of Texas cuisine, and the luxe cooking techniques he learned over the years from chefs across the world. Look out for the Shrimp Diablo, a spin on shrimp and grits using masa as an acknowledgment of tamales.

Goode Co. Fish Camp & Oyster Bar

Goode Company is one of Houston's most storied food brands, and the imprint continues to expand. Now, the business is adding another concept to its roster. Goode Co. Fish Camp & Oyster Bar will soon open in The Woodlands in 2022, replacing the brands Goode Co. BBQ on Six Pines Drive. A release notes that the inspirations from the oyster bar come from the time the Goode family spent together. The cuisine will place an emphasis on coastal, seasonal offerings, and will also supply an abundance of well-crafted cocktails.

Duck House
The second new restaurant coming to Blossom Hotel in 2022 is Duck House. The concept, also developed by Chef Ho Chee Boon, will draw inspirations from Southern China, and will primarily focus on plates made with duck. Boon is no stranger to Houston, as he served as the executive chef at the now-defunct Yauatcha in the Galleria. The restaurant will open next year, alongside its sister restaurant AB Sushi.

Telegram Tea Room
Restaurateurs Veronica and John Avila partnered with Chef Monica Pope for a new concept coming to 2601 Baylor Street. According to CultureMap, the location was the former telegram distribution building in The Heights, hence the name, Telegram Tea Room. Comparable to the Avila’s barbecue joint and general store Henderson & Kate in Sixth Ward, the new cafe and tea room will source local coffee and pastries, utilizing Little Dreamer Coffee and Semilla Baking Company. Pope will offset the down-home ambiance of the tea room with her dinner menu, with hopes to work with other chefs, incorporate themed nights, and work with farmers for markets. The Telegram Tea Room has hopes of opening in four to six months.

Clark’s
Austin-based McGuire Moorman Hospitality is headed to Bayou City to debut Clark’s, a seafood and oyster bar in Montrose. According to a Houston Chronicle report, the seafood eatery will open at the old Montrose Car Care building, with plans to open later this year. Patrons can look forward to ordering everything under the sea from cold plates like Dressed Oysters and Crab Louie to hot dishes like Oak Grilled Octopus and New England Clam Chowder.

The Warwick

At the corner of Westheimer and Fountain View used to be one of the city’s prized dining experiences: Houston’s. When the local mainstay shuttered in 2019, many wondered what was to come, and now we have an answer: The Warwick. The restaurant, headed by Chef Antoine Ware, will be a blend of New American and Southern cuisine. The Louisiana native plans to incorporate traditional southern meals with an elevated feel, like lamb chops and chargrilled oysters.

Passerella
The hospitality group that brought us neighborhood restaurants like Jax Grill and the Union Kitchen will soon bring the tastes of Italy to Cypress with its forthcoming restaurant Passerella. Located right next door to Union Kitchen Towne Lake, the 3,280-square-foot waterfront space will have a menu focused on seafood with hints of Mediterranean flavors. Plus, wine connoisseurs will be in good company with sommelier Matt Stevenson, who curated a stellar list of wines from Italy and Napa Valley.

Night Market Noodle
Night Market Thai closed in 2021, but quietly reemerged in Sharpstown as a ramen noodle house, Night Market Noodle. Visitors can expect similar authentic tastes to the former concept, but with Japanese influences — think Shoyu Ramen and Chicken Nanban.

Patton’s

Patton's is the new speakeasy-style steakhouse located inside Savoir.

The Heights is gaining an all-new speakeasy-style steakhouse tucked away inside the new American restaurant Savoir. Dubbed Patton’s, the hideaway will take guests through a gorgeous wine cellar until they happen upon the speakeasy-style entrance. The menu features succulent cuts of meats, shareable sides such as truffle fries and mashed potatoes, plus craft cocktails, all curated by Chef Eric Johnson.

Rare Steakhouse

Chef Don Bowie of Houston’s popular brunch spot Taste Bar + Kitchen has opened a second restaurant named Rare. The new steakhouse on Washington Avenue offers a more elevated experience than his brunch counterpart, with luxe steak and seafood options. If there’s any question about how extravagant the new restaurant will be, Bowie partnered with rapper and philanthropist Akon and former Houston Texans player Andre Johnson for the new feat.

POST Market Openings:
Johnny Good Burger

Johnny Good Burger is now open in the POST Market.

Texans can’t resist a good ole American burger, and a new pop-up in POST Houston is where Houstonians can get their fix. Created by Johnny Hoang and Paul Qui of Fam Hospitality, the new location replaced Salt & Time and the Butcher’s Burger in the new food hall. The menu is kept simple with four burgers: The All American, The Double Double, The Frisco and The Beyond Mushroom Swiss, plus nostalgic American sides like Frito pies, fries and flavored shakes to wash it all down.
