Amazon Wants to Make CityCentre a Tech Hub

We’ve got the Ion and a spaceport, and now Amazon is getting in on the Silicon Bayou action.
Last week, the massive technology and e-commerce company announced it’s expanding its Houston offices by about 150 employees. Per a release, those jobs will include software development engineers, data scientists, and more.
“Thanks to Houston’s incredible talent pipeline, we’re able to bring 150 new jobs to the city, on top of the more than 300 technology and corporate roles we’ve already created,” said Scott Bends, site lead for Amazon’s Houston Tech Hub, in the release. “We’re excited to continue working with the community and local leaders as we invest in Houston, bringing more jobs and new economic opportunity to the area.”
The new Tech Hub will be situated off of the Beltway in CityCentre. The 26,000-square-foot mixed-use office space will open in early 2022. Learn more about potential jobs here, and learn more about Amazon's ongoing labor issues here.
