The second annual City Lights at Avenida Houston kicks off this weekend.

As we inch closer and closer to Thanksgiving, the city is lighting up with festive illuminations, to make room for the season. The many festivals kicking off this weekend include the 39th annual Lighting of The Doves in The Woodlands, and the Tejano Music Festival at Kemah Boardwalk. In addition, enjoy the holiday themed week with family-friendly happening at the City Lights at Avenida Houston and the Reptilian Nation Expo at NRG.

Reptilian Nation Expo at NRG

While the phrase normally goes, "lions, tigers, and bears, oh my!" Houstonians can experience the same intrigue this weekend with thousands of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, isopods, and other critters at the Reptilian Nation Expo at NRG. The exhibition, which holds the title as the largest in Utah will make its way to Houston this weekend.

Tejano Music Festival at Kemah Boardwalk

Revel in the very best Tejano Music at Kemah Boardwalk during the Tejano Music Festival. The show, free to the public, includes a stellar lineup of acts such as The Riffs, Monico Cortez featuring Chris Q and Sunny Sauceda y Todo Eso. Additionally, attendees can get two-step dance lessons, and kids can play in a craft corner from 2-5 p.m.

Famous Drag Show Brunch at Boheme

Sunday Funday in Houston is a weekly holiday in Houston, and it's worth spending at Boheme this weekend. The mainstay bar will host its famous drag show Sunday, with delicious food, a live DJ, and an eclectic drag show you don't want to miss.

39th Annual Lighting of the Doves Festival 

Enjoy The Woodland's longstanding tradition of the Lighting of the Doves this weekend. The family-friendly ceremony symbolizes peace during the holidays and features traditional and international performances, Santa’s arrival, the lighting of the doves, and fireworks.

2nd Annual City Lights at Avenida Houston

Houston First Corporation will kick off the holiday season with a bit of magical wonder at the second annual City Lights. The celebration will transform Houston into a winter wonderland with designer-decorated trees to elves on skates. There will be ice skating at Discovery Green, holiday lights upon the Marriott Marquis' Texas-shaped lazy river, and a decadent chocolate display in the Hilton's lobby with a life-size replica of The Nutcracker.
