Here's Why Houston Should've Been Part of Prince Harry's Rodeo Trip

The royal was seen in Fort Worth recently, taking in the culture. But we really need him to visit the Bayou City's monthlong event for a true cowboy experience.

Prince Harry visits the rodeo in Fort Worth.

Everything is bigger in Texas, but the biggest rodeo belongs only to Houston. After Prince Harry was spotted during the bull riding events at the Fort Worth rodeo over the weekend, we want him to know that he should make the trip to H-Town to really experience rodeo life.

Since his move to California in 2020, Prince Harry and Megan Markle have begun to soak up the American experience. But was a trip to Fort Worth the best place to get the full, Texas rodeo experience?

Sure, the Stockyards Championship Rodeo bills itself as the only year-round rodeo, but compared with the behemoth that is our Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, it only gives a sampling of all that is rodeo culture.

We’d expect a royal to go for the king-sized rodeo experience in Houston. After all, it’s just 4 hours away (Probably less than an hour if  Harry and Meghan hop on a private jet?). We think that it’s more than worth their time.

Houston’s rodeo is an all-encompassing, month-long event, complete with numerous food contests, shopping, trail rides, a variety of handheld bites, and famous fried desserts. Not to mention the plethora of events that help shape the atmosphere of the annual event, from the wine garden to cooking contests. The food scene at the rodeo is more than fit for royalty.

And we know that the royal couple appreciates music culture, so Houston’s rodeo concert lineup is one of the best in the world, designed to appeal to a little bit of everyone with country legend George Strait and EDM star Marshmello on the bill. And this year, it would be great if Harry and Meghan dropped in on a historic moment for the city’s hip-hop culture when Bun-B leads a concert dedicated to Houston’s rap stars.

Nothing measures up to the atmosphere filled with screams of excitement from the carnival rides, seeing everyone dressed up in their best cowboys/cowgirls get-up, the smell of hot and fresh funnel cake, or watching as sizzling barbecue is grilled to get your mouth salivating. And where else can you find fried cheesecake, fried cookie dough, and fried apple pies?!

The Bayou City’s rodeo has unquestionably earned the title of the largest and most acclaimed exhibition and carnival in the world. All things considered, if I were a prince, the Houston Rodeo would be where I could feel welcomed by all, enjoy some of the best-smoked meat in the world and learn the meaning of mutton bustin’.

So, Prince Harry, please accept this formal invitation for you and your family (and your cowboy hat) to join us, and we’ll have a juicy turkey leg and southern sweet tea ready for your enjoyment!
