Description

The little sister to Indika, Pondicheri expands on a chaat house concept to include a bakeshop, which turns out everything from chili-chocolate oatmeal cookies to “nightingales”—grab-and-go pockets of curried meat and vegetables. But it’s more fun to dine in here—Pondicheri, tucked into a bright and airy corner of West Ave, features casual counter service that lets you eat at your own pace and take in the colorful sari material and Indian artwork that decorates the otherwise industrial space. The place fills up fast at brunch on the weekends but is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner nearly every day; our advice is to hit the restaurant on a quieter weekday service if it’s your first time. You won’t want to be rushed while trying to decide between the Texas shrimp chaat, or the lamb mint burger, or the rancher thali, or the Kerala seafood stew….
