Those who thought the mystery in Heart of Fashion's May Mystery Show was just about a secret location were in for a crazy-glamorous plot twist. Once guests arrived at the secret location—the staid Reading Room at the historic downtown Julia Ideson Library—they were treated to a fashion show featuring gorgeous gowns by Carolina Herrera (courtesy of Tootsies) and sparklers from deBoulle Diamond & Jewelry.

Then came the Clue-style twist—the lights went down and a model dropped dead on the runway, her jewelry missing, leading attendees on an interactive whodunit with actors from Catastrophic Theater playing Mrs. Peacock, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plumb, et al., while everyone noshed stylishly on Sprinkles cupcakes and champagne.

The evening raised funds for the Texas Gulf Coast chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America via the Texas Legacy Foundation. Though the paucity of information might have limited the guest list—seriously, who wouldn't have attended an event that promised both glamour and intrigue?—it's yet more proof that Heart of Fashion founder Vivian Wise knows how to bring drama and excitement to the rather formulaic world of local fashion shows. The only mystery left is whether Wise can top this during her marquee event this fall.
