It wasn't too hot. It didn't rain. It was the perfect early summer evening for an outdoor dinner party. The Farm Girls Supper Club, which hosts fun sit-down dinner events to celebrate Houston's bounty and green spaces, held its summer soiree June 26 at Evelyn's Park in Bellaire. Each dinner highlights the work of a notable chef, and this time around it was Kelli Bunch of KB Table (also a newcomer to the Farm Girls), who paid homage to legendary chef Alice Waters.

“It brings us such joy to continue to serve Houstonians with the experience of a family-style meal shared at a communal table surrounded by nature,” said Courtney Paddock, who co-founded the Farm Girls Supper Club with Marcia Smart. “We are thrilled that Kelli Bunch has joined our team with her passion for food, culinary expertise, and incredible aesthetic.”

The family-style dinner included a bread basket with Brazos Valley cheeses; a mixed green salad with vegetable tian; citrus snapper en papillote; flat iron steak rubbed with Right Side Coffee grounds; brown butter peach cobbler with caramel sauce, cardamom honey ice cream and HIVE Bee Farm honey; a Recharge Brewing Company cold brew; and takeaway chocolate chip espresso cookies.

The nonprofit Farm Girls Supper Club has held three dinners at locations kept secret to diners until just before the event. Past dinners have benefited Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Recipe for Success. Keep a look out for its next event by visiting the club's website.
