Seguin celebrates America’s independence like no other community. The annual celebration has earned national recognition, being named the 8th Best Small-Town Fourth of July Celebration by Yahoo.com and listed as one of the top 12 Small Towns Rich in Americana by WhereTraveler.com. Seguin celebration includes a community party, patriotic concert, fireworks, flag raising and a parade all honoring the sacrifices made to create and sustain American Independence. It is a full weekend of patriotic celebrations, but there is still plenty of time to explore and take in the sights and sounds of Seguin.

Saturday, July 1st
Blue Lotus Winery
The Seguin winery will kick off the Independence Day celebration with a special wine tasting and hot dog cook off*. Sample their wines and meads, and enjoy the scenery of the rolling hills. Blue Lotus will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The celebration that brings the whole community and Seguin’s visitors together to kick off the holiday weekend. Located in Central Park in Downtown Seguin, Freedom Fiesta includes live performances, games, plenty of delicious food vendors, local craft vendors, and much more. Help your kiddos decorate their bikes, trikes, scooters and wagons with a patriotic theme for a Kiddie Parade led by Uncle Sam. The party begins at 6:00 p.m. and goes to midnight.
Sunday, July 2nd
Tubing on the Guadalupe
On Sunday morning and afternoon, gear up for a relaxing and calming float on the Guadalupe River with Seguin Tubes. Unlike the overcrowded Comal River, the Guadalupe River in Seguin is the perfect spot for the whole family to enjoy this South Texas tradition. After you’ve worked up an appetite on your float, stop by the Power Plant Texas Grill, which is located right off the river for your convenience. Grab a seat on the outdoor balcony of this eatery and take in the view of rushing water over the Saffold Dam and the tubers floating on by.
Seguin Wave Pool
Want to catch a wave on your Fourth of July vacation? Bring the kids out to Seguin Wave Pool for a cool down on a summer day. Here they can ride the tides, soak up the sun in a splash pool, or simply sit underneath the raindrop mushroom. Adults are welcome too! Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Credit cards are not accepted at the Wave Pool.
Patriotic Concert by the San Antonio Symphonic Band
Set up in Central Park, enjoy the medley of patriotic tunes from the San Antonio Symphonic Band. The concert is always a crowd favorite and includes military hymns, classic American folk songs and more that will get you in the spirit of Independence Day. For this outdoor performance bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and beverage of choice. Local Boy Scouts will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, and more. Come see for yourself how the music, atmosphere, and sunset all goes hand-in hand to create an enjoyable evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Monday, July 3rd
Take the day to explore all that Seguin has to offer! Visit the Seguin Historic Downtown District for shopping, dining, drinks, or just the scenery that makes us historic. Seguin was recently named the Official Best Historic Small-Town in the State of Texas by destination marketing firm, Official Best Of, and with a visit to downtown, you can see why.
ZDT’s Amusement Park
If you are in the mood for adventure, take a ride on the wooden switchback rollercoaster or get on other family thrill rides including water rides at ZDT’s Amusement Park. This family attraction park has something for everyone. ZDT will have your family bursting with excitement. The park is open on July 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Got golf players? Come with your clubs and play a round at Starcke Park Golf Course. Both casual for family play and challenging enough for the competitive side. This 18-hole par 71 course is one of the last ”Parks” style golf courses in Central Texas. It’s surrounded by our famous pecan grove and edges the banks of the Guadalupe River.
Step outside with the family and catch the lights in the sky starting at 9:30 p.m. Get the best view of the spectacular firework display at Seguin Starcke Park or surrounding area. It’s sure to be a big hit with an awesome finale. This annual show is one that has us all ringing with anticipation each year.
Tuesday, July 4th
Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade
Join the crowds of over 10,000 people that line up along Austin Street for the annual Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade at 10:00 a.m. This is the main event that gets bigger and better each coming year. With more than a 150 parade entries including floats from local businesses, elected officials, churches, schools, military representatives, and more, the entire parade takes about two hours to roll by. Each float is sure to show off the heart and real spirit of our small town and neighboring communities. Family-friendly and entertaining to all.
