Join Houstonians for a great summer night of art, live jazz music, food and drinks! Meet new artists and shop an array of paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media and more. The Summertime Art Show & Sale is Friday, July 26 from 5-9 pm at the Sawyer Yards North Yard, which includes Spring Street Studios and Sabine Street Studios. It's free and open to the public, so invite your friends and make it an artful evening. There’s lots to do and see, including two buildings of open artist studios, exhibitions, jazz music, food and drinks!

Enjoy the jazz music of Ronnie Davis, of Piano Gigs and More along with Back Pew Brewing’s latest craft brew and desserts by Spoiled Rotten Events so, bring your appetite!

Along with the open studios, there are exciting exhibitions to experience. Sabine Street Studio’s Conversations on Culture show celebrates the variety that infuses the countless vibrant cultures of the city of Houston. And in the North Gallery is the exhibition, For Now We See Through a Glass Darkly by Joyce Lin and Emeric Tchatchoua. Their works explore ideas about dreams and remembrance in a series of sculptural furniture objects made by carefully encasing antique European-style furniture in light blue frosted acrylic, curated by 3.Paradis. Then, make sure to see The Tank Project Space's exciting new show, Pockets, by Elena Lopez Poirot inside Spring Street Studios. Poirot created installations within a larger installation that derive from childhood memories and aims to transport viewers to another place.

The Summertime Art Show & Sale is a great opportunity to see art up-close-and-personal.

Art lovers will tell you that their favorite pieces are the ones that forever speak to them because they’ve met the artist, heard their story and saw the artist’s passion for the work up-close-and-personal. What sets the Summertime Art Show & Sale apart from other major art events is the experience of being in an artist’s private studio –providing a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Spring Street Studios and Sabine Street Studios a part of Houston’s creative heart.

Talk to the artists! If you have a question about a piece of art or want to know more about an artist’s work, don’t hesitate to ask. If you find an artist you love, always sign up for their email newsletter or take a business card with you so you can easily find your way back for Second Saturday open studios (every second Saturday of the month). Purchase a piece of art, support local artists! Whether you’re a seasoned collector or new to the art-buying world, remember that Sawyer Yards has lots to offer including paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media or jewelry. Whatever your style, budget or level of art-buying experience, there’s something for everyone!
