But only the CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally is all those things and more. It’s a must-see event that is literally uplifting – and it’s only a short drive away in the beautiful destination of Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana.

If you’re like most people and are captivated by the almost magical sight of huge, colorful hot air balloons floating against the blue sky, this is the place to be. Here’s what’s in store for you.

June 21-25, 2022: The US Team Nationals
This week-long competition takes place in the days leading up to the Red River Balloon Rally. It brings together the top 36 balloon pilots from across the United States, grouped into 12 teams of three. 

Each balloon team must work together to achieve a variety of goals and objectives, competing in unique tasks that test their skills and teamwork.

If you thought hot-air ballooning was simply a matter of going up, floating around, and coming down again safely, you’ll be amazed at the precision and expertise of these balloon pilots. It’s an incredible sight to see! 

Catch all the (slow-moving) action every day from 6:30 to 8:30 am. Admission is free.

June 24-25, 2022: The CenterPoint Energy Red River Balloon Rally
Presented by CenterPoint Energy, the annual Red River Balloon Rally is a one of the largest hot air balloon festivals in the south – attracting nearly 20,000 spectators each year! 

It’s truly a sight to behold, with vibrant colored balloons floating peacefully above the lush Louisiana landscape. The event is open to everyone, but is known for being a family-friendly event that features kid zones, a professional kite flying exhibition, tethered balloon rides (just $20, weather permitting), live entertainment, food vendors, and even fireworks. Be sure to stick around until dark for the Balloon Glow, where the balloons magically light up the night sky every night beginning at dusk.
