Big Skies. Tall Tales. Toe-Tappin’ Music. Just another day in Bandera, Texas, the Cowboy Capital of the World. Awaken as the sun gently rises over the hills and the sounds of nature nudge you from slumber. As you sip coffee, plan your day’s adventure. There are many options.  Spend the day horseback riding at a ranch and listening to the cowboys’ tales; hiking the miles and miles of trails untouched by development while looking to add just one more bird to your life list, or embracing the freedom of the wind through your hair as you ride or drive the famed “Three Sisters”.

Stroll Main Street, visit the friendly shops and chat with the locals, or visit one of our antique shops or museums. When you’re feeling hungry, a bounty of different eateries awaits you, including the OST (Old Spanish Trail), which just celebrated its 100-year anniversary.  Summer is rodeo season in Bandera, Texas, the Cowboy Capital of the World.  Most weekends, historic Mansfield Park hosts rodeos on Friday and Saturday nights.

Every Friday night through August 12th, spectators have the rare opportunity to cheer on the youngest mini-bull riders just starting out to those that have turned pro. Come celebrate the National Day of the American Cowboy, July 23, with us we honor our cowboy heritage with activities around the Courthouse lawn.  As the day ends and the glow of the sunset fills the sky with burnt orange hues take a break. Breathe. When the canopy of a star-filled sky embraces you, decide whether to end your day swapping tales around the glowing embers of a campfire or head to town and dance the night away to live music at multiple establishments throughout the county. Don’t try to fit everything in at once. Tomorrow’s another day!
