There’s an exciting new reason to visit Sugar Land Town Square.

Department of Wonder, an immersive mixed-reality fantasy that blurs the boundaries between physical and digital reality, opened last month to sold-out crowds. The experience — equal parts theater, arcade, art gallery, theme park, and escape room — is a collaborative adventure that’s hard to put into words.

When guests arrive, they step into an otherworldly storefront to receive a lantern that gathers light for a journey. The quest includes unraveling stories, solving puzzles, and meeting colorful characters — both human and digital.

So far, Department of Wonder reviews from Houstonians are glowing. Both adults and kids alike are captivated by this enchanting and whimsical journey where curiosity is rewarded.

“Our group had the most incredible experience at Department of Wonder today. We weren’t sure what to expect going into it. Even now it’s hard to explain. It has actors, adventure, storylines, animatronics, tasks to complete, and places to explore. Everyone from my 72-year-old mom to my 2.5-year-old nephew had a fun and exciting time. We cannot wait to go back and explore again!” said Jennifer Wilder.

Coming soon, Department of Wonder will introduce a new experience called Make Believe geared to younger children that will be available during the day, as well as special seasonal engagements for the holidays.

Department of Wonder is located at 2180 Lone Star Drive in Sugar Land Town Square. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit deptofwonder.com.
