Outdoor Adventures

Take full advantage of spring weather with a hike at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, Fredericksburg’s most well-known outdoor adventure. If you want to experience Enchanted Rock, be sure to reserve a spot up to 30 days in advance to guarantee entry. Take in 360-degree views of the Texas Hill Country and a diversity of trails throughout the park.

Fredericksburg is an International Dark Sky Community and home to two International Dark Sky Parks. The area’s night skies produce an amazing show, perfect for stargazing.

The Texas Hill Country features plenty of other outdoor activities for any age. Visiting with your family? Check out local favorites including nature trails at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park and hiking at Cross Mountain. Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site offers a glimpse into the way early pioneers lived at the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm.

From bluebonnets to Indian Paintbrushes, wildflowers only add to the spring beauty in the area. According to wildflower experts, flowers will likely bloom in 2023 through mid-May.

The flowers are magnificent in nature, but the nation’s largest working wildflower farm, Wildseed Farms, boasts acres and acres of blooms to walk through.

Patios offer stunning views of the Texas Hill Country, while you enjoy the award-winning wines of the area’s more than 50 wineries.
