Tomiko Fukuda, MD

Dr. Tomiko Fukuda is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Foot and Ankle surgery.

Originally from the Midwest, Dr. Fukuda graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She worked as a Chemical Engineer for 3 years before changing her path to medicine. She received her Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and went on to complete her Surgical Internship and Orthopedic Surgical Residency at McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She came to Houston for a fellowship and then stayed to join the Fondren Orthopedic Group, A Division of OrthoLoneStar.

Dr. Fukuda has many honors and awards to her credit, including the Walter P. Blount Award for Orthopedics and the Janet M. Glascow Memorial Citizen for Scholastic Achievement Award by the American Medical Women’s Association. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She has authored several publications and given several presentations in her career, including “Impact of Talar Component Rotation on Contact Pressure after Total Ankle Arthroplasty: A Cadaveric Study” published in the Foot and Ankle International, which has since been cited over 60 times.

Healing hands, compassionate hearts: Dr. Cahill during her surgical mission trip to Guatemala.

Dr. Fukuda is passionate about getting athletes and active patients back to peak performance after both injuries and surgeries.  She uses arthroscopic and minimally invasive procedures whenever possible to minimize downtime with recovery from injury or deformity correction.  Achilles tendon repairs and bunion corrections are two examples of common procedures done with minimally invasive techniques.  She listens intently while also reviewing all prior studies and treatment modalities previously done.  She emphasizes that the first part of getting better is getting the diagnosis right.

Dr. Fukuda serves as a volunteer clinical faculty member helping to train medical students from the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, University of Houston, as well as Sports Medicine Fellows from Texas Children’s Hospital.  She also volunteers with the Perry Initiative, helping introduce high school girls to both engineering and orthopedics.

In addition to enjoying her vibrant practice, she loves skiing, tennis, barre classes, and spending time with her husband and son.  By helping to eliminate or minimize foot and ankle discomfort, she strives for her patients to maintain vitality and joy with their families long-term.

Catherine Cahill, MD, MBA

Dr. Catherine Cahill is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery.

Dr. Cahill is one of only 2-3% of female hip and knee replacement specialists nationally and Houston’s only female hip and knee specialist in private practice.  She is an expert in minimally invasive approaches and utilizes the latest robotic technology to optimize results and recovery. Also, as a leader in complex revision surgeries, she helps patients overcome pain, implant failures, and infections to restore mobility, function, and quality of life back to her patients.

Dr. Cahill received her Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin, graduating at the top of her class. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and earned scholarship distinction from the medical college for being a “complete physician”. Her fellowships include the renowned Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, and a Fellowship in Hip Preservation completed at Inselspital Hospital in Bern, Switzerland.

Dr. Cahill is a passionate local and international volunteer who leads a yearly mission trip to Guatemala through the Faith in Practice charity organization to perform hip and knee replacements. She also takes interest in mentoring within her profession, volunteering with the Perry Initiative to encourage young women to enter the field of orthopedic surgery.

With commitment to listening, understanding, and addressing patient concerns, Dr. Cahill strives to create a positive and supportive environment that enables individuals to regain mobility, reach their individualized goals, and live life to the fullest.
