Designer Spotlight: Garrett Hunter

Internum names a villainess, and the designer appoints the perfect room.

Internum, the contemporary furniture company in Montrose, introduced their latest designer showcase from Houston interior designer Garrett Hunter Tuesday. The company asked Hunter to design a room inspired by the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome and loosely based on the villainess, Aunty Entity, played by Tina Turner. Among the room's highlights are a white fur chair and a sinister-looking random glass orb.

"It's just my interpretation of how I think a character like that would live," said Hunter. "Everything in the room is pretty rigorous and tactile, with raw leathers, raw furs, and raw stones."

The room will remain on display for the month. Hunter is the latest deisgner to be featured by Internum for their Designer Highlight Program, which provides local designers with the opportunity to create their own rooms using furniture from the store's 11,000-square-foot showroom. Designers are welcome to include additional features, such as artwork, and decorative accessories to complete their vision.  Internum’s Houston showroom is located at 3303 Kirby Drive and open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, as well as Sundays from 12-5 p.m.
