The Traveling Black Dress

New ways to accessorize that black dress in your closet

By Beth Muecke October 8, 2014

Most women have a simple black dress in their closet. There are many different ways to accessorize that LBD and get much more wear out of it, and no one will be the wiser. And of course, making it a staple for several outfits can save a lot of money. This is important year-round, but especially during the holidays with all of the accompanying events—office, luncheon, cocktail, or casual. This is the first post of a series in which I'll "travel" my black dress to different stores around Houston to give it a multitude of looks.

I took a white blouse and black shoes from my own closet and headed over to Paula Fridkin on West Gray for a black dress make-over. The results, I like to call my "Burberry look". These items are actually faux-Burberry and make for a great daytime or casual evening look. It was easy to pull a scarf, purse, hat, and shoe accessories to make a completely new outfit out of a black dress and white button-down blouse.

Always fun to add "shoelery." Look in the space in the coming weeks for more LBD looks for the season.
