Cut a Rug (and Win It, Too) at Flor

Budding designers can compete for rugs and glory in FLOR's first-ever Design Challenge on Tuesday.

Can you design a better rug than this one?

Were you obsessed with Legos as a child? Has extensive mahjong practice taught you a thing or two about arranging tiles? Do you turn every piece of broken glass you find into a Gaudí-like mosaic?

If so, you might be a natural for FLOR's first-ever Design Challenge. FLOR designs and manufactures over 600 distinctive modular floor tiles that can be arranged, mixed and matched to create area rugs and runners of any shape and size, offering unlimited opportunities to design completely custom configurations.

On Tuesday evening, budding designers can head to the Houston store inside West Ave and choose from over 400 sample tiles, using 30 of them to assemble their own small-scale rug design. Sound fun? It gets better. Whoever designs the best rug (as determined by a panel of judges) will win an 8 x 10 version of their creation to take home.

Designer Robin Wilson will be on hand to join the judging panel and declare a Houston winner, in addition to signing copies of her new book, Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle

It doesn't end there, either. The winning design from Houston will be posted alongside finalists from 10 other cities on the FLOR Design Challenge website July 6-15, where fans can vote for their favorite rug pattern. The nationwide winner will be featured in a future FLOR line and will be on display at FLOR stores around the country with a name chosen by the winner.

May we suggest "FLOR You, Houston's Awesome"?
