It's okay to admit it: You probably didn't get what you wanted for Christmas. Or, at least, not everything you wanted. If you're anything like us post-holiday, you're pretty set on socks, books, and Starbucks gift cards, but there's still a burning hole in your closet for a really good leather jacket or a new pair of boots.

Luckily enough, this weekend presents the opportune moment to remedy that and to feel justified in the (probable) chance of over-spending: Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13 will bring 50-plus boutiques together under one roof (specifically, the Bayou City Event Center's) for a two-day shopping extravaganza already so legendary it's simply called "The Sale," all to benefit MD Anderson Children's Cancer Center Hospital. 

Launched in 2015, The Sale is an annual undertaking from the Houston Tri Delta Philanthropies, the fundraising arm of the local Tri Delt chapter. Proceeds raised through underwriting and ticket sales have generated $740,000 for pediatric cancer research since The Sale's inception. That importance can't be overstated: Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children ages 1-14, according to the American Cancer Society, and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation reports just 4 percent of federal funding for cancer research goes specifically to pediatric efforts.

With that in mind, there's further permission to do some damage to your bank account beginning Saturday at noon, when $25 in advance ($30 at the door) grants you access to the goods through 5 p.m. A steeper fee—$150—allows you in at 10:30 a.m. (with champagne); alas, pre-sale shopping passes have sold out.

"Sunday Funday" brings more shopping from noon to 4 p.m. plus a 1 p.m. "New Year, New You" wellness panel featuring stylish and influential Houstonians like Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper, Estela Cockrell of Switch2Pure, and Marla Murphy of The Blonde Pantry. $20 in advance ($30 at the door) covers both Sunday shopping and panel access.

From vintage clothes to fine jewelry and athleisure to homeware, there's no shortage of shoppable stuff: The Sale's participating vendor roster includes tried-and-true favorites like à bientôt, Cheeky Vintage, and Tootsies. Find decoupage tissue box covers from Marye-Kelley, oil paintings from Page Gregory Matthews, tricked-out custom denim from Two Tequila Sisters, and designer threads from local favorites like Elaine Turner, Hunter Bell, and Sofia Collections. We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and checking your credit limit before you venture out.
