It’s a scorching August night in Houston, and no, your eyes aren’t deceiving you—that is a horde of ivory-clad revelers traipsing down 19th Street. It was in 2006 that Chris and Kay Thayer, Heights boutique owners and Houston transplants displaced by Hurricane Katrina, launched the annual block party known as White Linen Night, modeling it on a similar celebration in New Orleans’s French Quarter. Today the bacchanalia is still going strong, attracting thousands of revelers each year. And while it’s true that in August in Houston, an all-white outfit is more about surviving than making a fashion statement, that doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of pageantry on display. Putting together your look? Here’s an ensemble for inspiration.
