Simon Beauty Week

When: Through Sunday, September 22
Where: The Galleria (participating retailers)
What: Special deals on beauty products and pampering services have been going on in the Galleria all week for this inaugural event series, but this Saturday and Sunday bring the best promos in the mall's Nordstrom Wing: mini facials and hand massages at L'Occitane (1-5 p.m. on Saturday only); DIY bath bomb pressing at Lush (Saturday only); Chanel, Clinique, MAC, and L'Oreal beauty station experiences at Macy's; 15-minute makeup applications and demos at Morphe; complimentary Born to Glow foundation color matching at NYX; Peace of Mind treatments, skincare demos, and five-minute facials at Origins; and hair-styling at Toni&Guy. Spend $100 or more from beauty retailers (easier than you think) and get a makeup bag while supplies last.

Houston Antiques + Art + Design Show

When: Friday, September 20–Sunday, September 22 (11 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday)
Where: Silver Street Studios
What: Explore fine antiques, furniture, and art from exhibitors around the U.S., Canada, and Europe all in one place. Design movements of all eras will be represented, including 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries plus vintage 20th century modern. Tickets are $10.

Art Supply Drive

When: Saturday, September 21–Sunday, September 29
Where: Emerson Sloan, 2438 Rice Blvd. and 1319 S. Voss
What: September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and this week-long drive (at both the Rice Village and Tanglewood locations of this local party goods store) supports Sugar Land-based nonprofit The Faris Foundation in its mission to improve pediatric cancer patients' quality of life, from fostering community to promoting creativity. Emerson Sloan is tackling the latter in its first annual art supply drive, when customers are invited to donate new, child-friendly art supplies and/or monetary donations which will go toward the Foundation's "Art is My Life" program at Texas Children's Cancer Center.

Houston Modern Home Tour

When: Saturday, September 21; 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: Various locations around Houston
What: Scope out eight of the finest examples of modern architecture and design in the city at this self-guided tour, back for the ninth year from the Modern Architecture + Design Society. This year's curated selection of homes range from a $3.7 million new build near Memorial Park to a unique, C-shaped abode in EaDo. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 day-of; proceeds benefit the UH chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students.

Favor the Kind Sidewalk Sale

When: Sunday, September 22; 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: Favor the Kind, 642 Yale St., Suite C
What: There are plenty of reasons to cross our fingers for a reprieve from this rain, and chief among them is the chance to shop on-sale goodies outside this, one of our very favorite boutiques in Heights Mercantile. Our kingdom for a retro denim jumpsuit.
