Fashion, thy name is face mask

Send Us Photos of Your Face Masks, And We'll Have a Fashion Show (Virtually)

We all have to wear masks now, so we might as well look good.

By Catherine Wendlandt April 15, 2020

The leaders of David Adickes's Mount Rush Hour, in American Statesmanship Park, are leading once again with their examples of protective and fashionable face masks.

Forget fanny packs slung across your chest, there's a new fashion accessory sweeping the world, and they're called face masks.

Thanks to the coronavirus crisis, and the potential of virus spread through asymptomatic carriers, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has called for everyone to wear some sort of mask when out in public. We at Houstonia are totally on board with that—safety first—but safety doesn't mean we can't rock an awesome face mask look.

Leave the N95 and surgical masks to the professionals—seriously, y'all, the healthcare workers need them more than you—and send us pictures of your cutest, funniest, and best cloth face masks, and we'll post a slideshow online of our favorites. Want to make a mask? Designer Chloe Dao told us taught us how, no sewing involved.

Submit your photos here.

Want examples of how creative and fashionable people have gotten with their own masks?

Check out the round up below.
