Jamail Skatepark will reopen tomorrow after being closed for nearly a year.

"When is the Jamail Skatepark reopening?" we asked back in January. The Houston Parks and Recreation Department clearly heard our plea—and those of skaters keen to get their park back—as we received an email this afternoon with the good news: Jamail is reopening tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Closed since April 2016 while it underwent $2 million worth of renovations, the skatepark—which first opened in 2008—has undergone much-needed repairs, especially to its once-rough concrete surfaces. In addition to that work, look for upgrades such as graffiti boards and additional seating areas (with shade!).

The public is invited out to the skatepark's grand reopening tomorrow. Going forward, the park's hours will once again be back to normal (which means no more having to sneak in past the chain link fence): 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. And remember: Helmets are mandatory here.
